Promises masked in a velvet shroud
Melting in the hazy tangerine glow
of tomorrow’s wishful thinking
A viscous poison crystallized then grated
Dust breezing atop the lilts and cadences
that bloom with the seed of your excuses
Fragmenting against my wall of concrete denial
Brittle shards of a forgotten future
Become the regret of days past prime
Don’t let the door hit you on your way out
