Far Away
There’s not a thing that I wouldn't give,
To spend one more day with you.
To ride down that same dusty dirt road
In that rusty old pickup truck,
That you loved so much.
If Heaven wasn’t so far away,
I’d get our favorite foods
Pack them in a bag
And bring them with me.
I’d find the long set of stairs,
Run up to Heaven’s gate
Sit on a cloud and visit you for hours.
I’d love to hear some more of your old stories,
Even the ones you told a million times.
I miss just going for car rides
No destination in mind, we’d just drive.
I miss my grandpa,
Or as I used to call you, Old Fart.
Physically you aren’t here,
I know you’re watching down on me.
I miss you like crazy.
If only Heaven allowed visits,
I’d never leave.
I hope I’m making you proud.
I know some day soon, I’ll see you again,
But some day isn’t soon enough for me.
