Unheard, Unseen
I live in a world that stays unseen
Where nothing can jump out at me
The clouds are blue and the trees are green
And no one will ever see me
They say this world is perfect
But it is far from that
The loneliness stretches much to the far
And leaves me full with grief
I want to be heard and want to be seen
But they say children shouldn't be.
I stand alone in isolation
With only the birds and bees
They are the only comfort.
What's worst of all is that I can see them
Driving into town.
On sunny days I will go sit and watch them
Drive away beautifully free.
Sometimes I see a person who looks just like me
And I wonder would that have been the life to be?
But I have given up on hoping to be heard
For no matter how hard I cry
Nothing ever changes
So on this day, a day like all the others
I have nothing new to expect
For I have lost all respect for the world
I walk out onto the same gravel road
And sit in the same lime green grass
And do the same thing I do every day,
Watch the cars.
A car pulls over on the road
And a boy gets out
I fill with joy for this is something different.
He walks onto my lime green grass and sits.
I stare into the depths of his soul
But feel nothing
Instead he just looks back and tells me his story
He lives in the land of the people who are seen,
A place where there is no privacy
The sky is gray and the trees are mean
For everyone is free to do evil things
He says his world is far from perfect
And what he says is true.
He stands alone in a crowded room
And is filled to the tips with grief
He wants to be heard and wants to be seen,
But then I stop him there.
If there is no privacy, how can he still be alone?
But he answers back with a sad smile and says,
No people are really seen and no one really listens.
And that is when I realize
My world is said to be perfect
But it is far from that.
For mine is just like the boy's
Only, now I have someone who can hear me
Now I have someone that can see me.
