Love is...

Love is... like a rose
It can be beautiful
Like the various colors of which it changes
Soft and gentle
Just like its ever so delicate petals
But...
It can also be deathly
Its marvelous petals distracting you
Tricking you as you pick it up
Stabbing and causing pain
Then you realize
It has deceived you
With its hypnotic appearance
It hid its actual purpose
To cause you grief and misery
So it is with great regret
You leave it there to die
And try to forget
But that can never happen
Because you know you will fall for it again
