Living for Today
I can see it now.
I look back wanting to change everything
But I know I can’t.
What happens,
Stays in the past.
My past hangs desperately in the balance
Waiting for me to grab on
So it can pull me down with it.
So I look to the future
What’s at stake for me?
Why do I worry about something isn’t there?
How can we predict something we don’t know anything about?
Such a mysterious thing this future.
Maybe it’s because the human mind can’t comprehend the unknown.
Quite simply,
Knowing the unknown is impossible.
And so, the longer we try to understand this inconceivable being
The more impossible it becomes.
That is why I look forward today.
I live for the moment.
You may choose to dwell on the past
And think about what you could have done.
You may choose to worry about the future
And think about what will happen.
But I choose today.
For my past prepares me for today
And what I do today shapes my future.
Today is just a new beginning.
So I ask just one question.
Which path will you take?
