You feel the wind rush around you as you run
It feels like your lungs will burst
But you keep going anyway

Your shoe makes contact with the ball
You aim
And in a split second
The ball lands right where you wanted it to
In the goal

This sport
Isn’t for the faint of heart
You have to work hard
And you have to really be one with it

When you kick your first ball
You know
This is the sport for me
This is soccer

I wrote this poem because I am a soccer player and I wanted to share how I felt about my favorite sport through this poem.
