What I'm From
I am from stinging scraped knees,
and peroxide.
From Barbie
and Ken dolls,
that filled up toy box,
and day.
From afternoon tea parties,
and playing pretend.
I am from gravel,
and travel,
to different
countries,
states,
cities,
towns,
and homes in many places.
I am from music,
classical,
rock,
and all in-between.
I am from Happily Ever After
fairy tales,
woven by grandparents'
wise minds.
I am from dancing in joy,
and late nights spent
with monsters under the bed.
And from fluffy
little yellow chicks,
who skittering to and fro,
following closely,
calling me mom.
