The Climb Up
I feel broken
All of me aches
I have no words
Expressionless when I
Need not be
My hot breath rises
Leaving me below
Yet it
Feels as though I am
Higher than ever before
Having conquered
An obstacle many never will
I stand
Sit
Alone
At the peak
Having no one to share with
The highest I've been
The lowest I've felt
My sole has worn
Off my shoe
Today's walk up the stairs
Was tough
But only for me
It's tough to get the top
Especially when you work
On the highest floor
You are above everybody else
But you are reminded of
What it took to get there
Everyday, so you do not forget
