Black and Blue
The first time he strikes,
She is left there
Limp.
Like an old doll she once cared for,
Her looks deteriorated from constant use.
Innocence shattered,
She is alone
Quivering
Craving the compassion she
Never got.
She now knows the dark secrets
This unforgiving world has to offer.
Love was what she longed for,
But it was fear
Rocking her to sleep at night.
Bruises create a lingering dark shadow
around her frail frame,
Giving those outsiders
Subtle clues that her first love
is a damaging one.
