Senior year in high school: everything is crazy,
priorities, actions, and friends are changing.
The days are flying by, and sooner or later it will be time,
to walk across the stage, and start a new life.
But before that time comes, there are many experiences during the year.
After the first couple weeks of school the SAT and ACT are near.
Students carry the huge study books around,
hoping that their scores will make them college bound.
Applications are then filled out and sent away,
and the long waiting process causes dismay.
Some will be satisfied and some will be disappointed.
Either way- future colleges will be appointed.

Second semester rolls around and things run amok,
because Spring Break, prom, and graduation are coming up.
Groups are set, and arrangements are made,
and the students anxiously count down the days.
Spring Break comes first, and it sure is a great time,
at the beach with your fellow seniors, making memories day and night.
Sadly the days fly by, and it’s back to the real life,
but prom is now right around the corner, on the bright side.
Prom night speeds through like a racecar on a track,
and the following day students wish they could go back.
At this point graduation is knocking on the door,
which is a joyous moment for those who can’t take high school anymore.
But others are sad, gloomy, and blue,
finally realizing they have to start something new.

During my senior year, I’m following one guideline:
Enjoy every moment, because the days fly by.

I am currently a senior at Union Grove High School, and a sudden realization that my journey through high school is ending soon inspired me to write this piece.
