Favorite Quote:
“Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It is about learning to dance in the rain.”

I am green
Inspired to grow, to reach beyond my limits
Like an emerald’s glow, I keep my balance by its soothing essence
My hidden desire

I am grey
My solitude
The feeling of emptiness I can never seem to hide from
Isolation

I am red
My passion
The warmth of hidden aggression, igniting my energy
The flame burning inside

I am blue
Like the endless sphere the clouds reside in, I am peaceful
Remnants of my childhood
The essence of my youth

I am yellow
The everlasting feeling of happiness, recollections of joy
Every laugh, every smile like a breath of spring air
Memories fade away
My mask of optimism

I am pink
Delicate as an orchid’s petal, sensitivity worn on my sleeve
My foremost vulnerability
My Achilles heel

I am violet
Energy and ambition
The drive of my creativity
My purpose for inspiration
My internal electricity

Most of all, I am orange
Misunderstood, unique, different
I cannot be favored, I never was
Like the glimpse of the early sun, my tangerine rays are too sour
Instead I embrace my shades of color
I remain orange

The author's comments:
In my poem, “My Shades of Color”, I used a series of metaphors by describing myself to eight different colors and how my personality portrays their significance. I concluded my poem by describing myself to the color orange, my favorite color and the color that resembles me most.
