Dear Little Girl
Dear little girl,
What you mean to me,
Is more than I can express.
As they laid you in my arms,
I heard God whisper,
“I have someone special for you.”
At that moment,
I felt it,
The unconditionally, special love
Only a mother can feel.
I have watched you grow,
Into a girl that brightens someone’s day,
Just by laughing,
Or giving up one of those,
One-of-a-kind smiles.
Makes me the proudest mom.
You have no clue,
As to how much happiness you bring me.
Now that you’re growing up,
I’ve become petrified.
The thought of having to let you go,
In just a few years,
Makes my heart drown in a million tears.
But the thing about having a girl,
As special as you,
Doesn’t cause me to worry.
You will be the best of the best.
I am sure of it.
Promise me one thing,
My little girl,
Never outgrow my love,
And when your little girl comes,
Pass it down to her.
That special love I have taught you.
One last thing,
Don’t ever worry about being, perfect,
Or what others want you to be.
You are more than that,
Alejandra,
You are my angel,
My best creation.
Always, Mom.
