To my future son or daughter,
I’ll never neglect you,
Even if you just want me to leave you alone,
I’ll never forget what you need,
Even if my life becomes hectic,
I’ll never miss your soccer games,
Or chess tournaments,
Even if mommy has a cold,
I’ll never make you eat veggies,
Cause here’s a secret,
I hate them too,
I’ll never let you fail, or fall behind,
Because I’ve been there many times,
I’ll never let you feel like you can’t talk to me,
Cause my heart was once broken too,
I’ll never hurt you,
To make you hate me,
But most importantly,
I’ll never deprive you of my love,
Even when you’re 42 years old, and above.

This is a promise I made to myself, and the best way I can show that no matter what stage in life my children go through, I will always have their backs; just like how my parents did.
