Sunrise
Shadows scurry, shy and scared--
As light crawls across the horizon--
Tormented and lurking
Cruel and violent
Monsters and demons
Twisted and crooked
Hide behind rocks, trees, leaves
Fluttering in the light breeze
They are driven
By Apollo’s chariot
And as he rides
Across the azure
The shadows flee
Today as they have every day.
