Our Farewell

Separation must start
Leaving both longing and lonely
Perhaps unable to understand
Narrow-minded to our necessity
Woes will make us wait
Fortune follow fast
Therefore, this is the time
Long goodbyes will gain us nothing
Few years will I yearn
Daily thinking of our departure
Both knowing it’s for the best
Take care to calm your canyon of fears
Goodbye sweet sensitive soul
Love, I can only hope, will last

I wrote this because I love someone who I can't love. We have to be apart for now, but hopefully we'll meet again later in life. This poem is hope for anyone battling for a forbidden relationship.
