Rock of paper

Your white face
Full of distressed eyebrows
And thin lips that can't speak words of love

Your thing hands tug the comforter
Beneath your chin
The one you gave to me
And you see through me
Disregard me

How dare you be so weak.
How could my rock be made of paper?

You take hurried steps
And then,
The sink Is loud
Full blast
I hear the chill of it
Through the thin wood,
The bathroom door

Unsuccessful in concealing
Your pain filled chokes and sobs
Your unselfish attempt
In concealing your unnatural pain

It sounds like blood
Instead of tears
And I need to save you

How dare you allow yourself
To be ridden with pain
As I wait for you ,
before the threshold

And all my life
I continue to wait
Outside the bathroom door.

It is so painful to hear a parent cry.
