Barely Hanging On
Every morning is identical to him.
He sees the same people
with their perfect lives and faultless families.
He wonders how so many people’s biggest worry can be
what they are going to wear the next day,
while his concern is when will his family eat next.
He works two jobs for them;
and hearing the words “I’m hungry”
keep him from giving up.
But each day keeps getting harder and harder.
He is barely hanging on and his future
seems foggy.
There is only so much he can do until
nothing is left.
