Dear Ronnie...
Un-opened letters that I should have read,
I am sorry for everything.
I blamed you for everything that happened,
and gave up on loving you.
Heartbroken with the feeling of hate,
I wanted nothing to do with you.
Starring at the tall grass silhouettes against the sunset,
where is the warmth I am supposed to sense?
The cold shoulder I treated you with is all I feel,
if only I could take it back.
Slowly you are overcome like the waves flooding the sand,
and drowning the shore.
I’ll never have the chance to ask—
Why you never told us.
None of that matters now.
I guess from time to time you have to be apart from the people you love,
but that doesn’t mean you love them any less,
sometimes it even makes you love them more.
It’s about the moments in life that lead us back home to where we belong
when we have stayed away.
I wish you could see me grow up,
becoming just like you.
