A Book of Fantasy
Upon opening the covers of a fantasy book,
I feel the enchantment and excitement
Being liberated.
Set free,
Like a beast from a cage.
Turn another page or two
And the setting takes shape.
Perhaps a grassy green field beneath
White pillows suspended in the air,
Or maybe a rugged rock fortress,
An unyielding stone guardian
And protector of the people.
Then the characters follow suit.
First the knight,
Armored to the teeth.
Then the wizard,
Aged to a wisdom.
And finally the hero,
Unwavering in the face of adversity.
As I read onwards,
I see the silhouette of a thousand scenes
Unravel in my head.
Perhaps it is the grueling journey
Over the roof of the world,
To each of its four corners,
And across its seven seas.
Or maybe it is the colossal battle,
The collapse of two metal oceans,
That shook the earth to its core
And spilt blood on every blade.
But no matter,
Because ultimately,
This book was a key.
It unlocked my imagination
And set it free.
