Fading Away
The sweet melodies of morning birds bring you to consciousness.
As you awaken from a heaven of dreams,
You dread the day ahead of you.
Painting a mask upon your face,
The day begins.
Smiling, laughing with all your friends,
You try to hide the thoughts running through your head:
The empty tank you drove here with,
The neglected cupboards upon the kitchen walls.
Tired feet scream at you to sit down,
Relax for just a minute.
Pain radiates from your head,
Begging you to sleep for a few hours
When will this feeling of exhaustion subside?
Motivation abandoned you long ago,
The drive to continue barely lingers.
Grasping for something to hold on to,
You slip into darkness.
