A portrait shows one’s beauty
One’s looks are all that matter
Dorian wishes he could agree
He sees it as how he will shatter

He will grow old
The portrait will remind him of his youth
The wish for a reversal is granted
The portrait now shows Dorian’s inner truth

Obsession can take one of two paths
I see it as an opportunity to grow
Although how can one continue
When the path is so shallow

The portrait is now the world
It leads to obsession and killing 3
The relationships he once had
Are not as much fulfilling

The path is the only chance
Taking the wrong one can kill
Being obsessed with success is one way
But obsessed with self is a path uphill

Dorian eventually realized what is wrong
The portrait acts as a mirror on the soul
He must change how it looks
But is it possible to change as a whole?

Working uphill is much more difficult
Being conceited makes the path a wall
Looking good is not all that matters
Take a look in the mirror, and prepare to be appalled

Dorian allows the portrait to take control
Little does he know, not worrying is the key
The portrait talks to him
Acting as one should, will set him free

The path may look like the right choice at the time
But the distance, you can only see so far
Be sure to look down both paths
What you should be searching for is the stars

His demise is from his obsession
He, is all that he knows
Thinking about someone else for a change
Can allow the obsession to slow

What if the portrait was never there?
Would there still be the obsession?
Dorian can answer that
With a different type of progression
