Perfection
We are the grey, the undefined, the perfect.
You see our exteriors
Painted on with brushes, covering every blemish
Sparkling our eyes with powder
To make them,
Pop.
Our smiles plastered, beaming eye to eye,
If you will look closely, dear, you will see
They don’t quite reach
For we are splenda fake,
Sweet and sugary with a
Zero calorie count.
We are the many, the every, the perfect.
We are breaking down slowly
Inside,
You do not see our cracks,
Caving in.
You do not see our imperfections,
Our secrets,
Our hidden desires.
We are the perfect girls
Hidden away.
Told we are not good enough,
Our exteriors need to be,
Polished
Our interiors need to be
Hidden.
So we do.
We hide,
But we are broken down
Inside,
And so we put on our masks
Paintbrushes covering up the cracks,
Until, we are
Perfect.
