"I’m glad we had the times together just to laugh and sing a song, seems like we just got started and then before you know it, the times we had together were gone."- dr. suess

Ready to stand, but stuck on shaking feet
Lost in fear that pain's bound to repeat
Being with you is like living under the sun
Water fights and forever fun
Always wanting to be the best
Obsessions that you never let rest
Dear never put others down
Never be the cause of someone's frown
Stay close to jesus dear
He will help you keep me near
I say "I love you," and yet I lie
He truly loves and was willing to die
Always looking for what's ahead
Try to stop and enjoy now instead
You say you've got plans for us one day
But I think you forgot the "us" we have today
You've always lived a little wild
They told me to find a love more mild
You see the world in ways I never could
But they say I love more than you ever would
They can't see the heart of stone I never shared
You did, but still you cared
For you my heart stays on my sleave
By your side I'll never leave
Everything you say makes me melt
Most gentle touch I've ever felt
They said, "This is the one you shouldn't trust,"
But deep within my heart said, "You know you must."
Safe is the only word I know
To describe the kind of love you show
You found beauty in my mess of a life
Even in my anger, temper, and strife
You cared for my feelings that were battered and sore
And from a best friend could I ever ask more?

The author's comments:
This poem was written about my best friend. We are like a couple of sailors. I am forever fixing the sails and worrying, but he is there to get me to calm down and enjoy the ride. He may be a little crazy and run the boat into the rocks, but I know that no matter what he is there 100% to help me push the boat back into the water.
