One Good Poem
One good poem
 is worth
 a hundred lighted fire-flies
on a hazy night in july
 when the air is cool
and you laugh with the innocence
of a gentle babe coddling its way into this world.
 And it’s worth
those thousand times when you were
 beaten down
 by your enemies
 (and sometimes by your friends)
and when you would sit and wish for
a million kind words to relieve you of your sorrows.
