Noses pressed to the filmy glass,
wide eyes filled with wonder stare
at a beacon of light in the darkness.

The moon swells with pride
as she emanates a white, eerie glow.
Luna, luna shining bright.

Red ruby lights, sparkling
with flecks of gold and blue
encrust the bridge
that spans the placid East river,
glimmering with hazy reflections.

And the sweet, red bean paste
inside round mooncakes that fit
in the palm of my hand. We
would savor these treats on the
full moon and pray the nights
weren’t cloudy.

The author's comments:
Supermoon is a phenomenon in which the moon is substantially closer to the Earth and therefore appears to be much brighter than usual.
