And these are what make man great,
His ladder to the stars.”
~Mumford & Sons

Out the window
There is an ocean,
A raging and bubbling sea,
Frozen in humid fluff.
Smooth in some places,
Storm-tossed in others.
A strange, floating landscape,
Created from palest blue, not-yet-fallen rain.
It stretches endlessly,
Ethereal and enchanting,
A desert plain of water,
Reaching to an ocean of pure air.
On and on it goes,
To the peach edge of the sky,
Which fades to butter, pure white,
Then darkens from lilac to navy.
The moon hangs in the sky,
Echoing the new landscape below:
Layer upon layer
Of soft and seamless cloud.
A glow forms in the distance,
Orange turns to red,
It fringes the horizon,
A ruby flings loose its light,
And a new day's begun.

This was written while on a plane... I actually almost spilled my ginger ale on the notebook. :P
