"Life is a package that you have to sign for. Yes, it's free. No, there's no guarantee as to what it holds. Open with caution, it's 'FRAGILE'." (I made this up.)

Looking in is a girl lacking confidence
Just one glance and I'm losing my way
Will they see me as I see myself now?
Will they recognize the me I want to be?

I don't want to go by anyone's design
I don't want to live life following a sign

What to wear
What to eat
Where to place my feet
I'm here, but I'm fighting
A war with the mirror

As they watch me
I close up and keep to myself
Going through motions
Like a lone book on a shelf
I'm noticing things up close for the first time
Daring to come to the surface
Let go, let God be divine

Others try to control me
But I won't let them stand in my way

What to wear
What to eat
Where to place my feet
I'm here, but I'm fighting
A war with the mirror

They tell me a girl should look like that
But their measly opinions simply aren't fact
How I view myself is more important than anything they could ever say

Standing there is a girl, bold and brave
She matches my smile, unwavering
How can I doubt when there's so much faith drowning it out?

What to wear
What to eat
These voices can no longer compete
I'm here, but I'm winning
A war with the mirror
