"They Say"
I have good ideas, but they're so jumbled together you can't help but drop them; they say
 And then they're broken.
Twisted and ruined, just lying there
If only I knew where to put them; they say
If only I could correct myself; they say
And the dreams are just lying there, hurt and confused
If only I could be a little better, just a little better, then I would be happy; they say
My eyes find theirs and I stare
 Hard
I look down to the pieces at my feet, so mangled and ugly,
 And I pick them up
Caressing each nick and bend with a loving touch
As I hold them, they warm my frozen fingers
I smile as I turn and face them
 I am better; I say
 I am stronger; I say
I will make something of myself; I say
Because I choose to be happy.
I place the pieces in a pocket next to my heart and I walk away,
 Taking my pieces with me.
 Something new is starting
And I can't wait to meet it
