A poem
In a world without emotion
Is a dead end
Going nowhere.
To be a poet
In a world without emotion
Would be a life of
caution and crime.
A poem
Would be coveted
By the few who feel,
A paper hidden behind a back
As the teacher walks by.
Forbidden
The unknown
Different.
Something to read
In the middle of the night
With the bedcovers over your head.
Illegal
Passed around on the sidewalks
While law enforcers weren’t around.
Written hastily,
While no one is looking,
Because in a world with no emotion,
You don’t want to be caught
Feeling.
