Spring Fever
Little pear blossoms
 Rejoice to greet the day
 Delicate and fragrant,
 Just loud enough to say:

 “Open your window, beauty!
 Toss off your sneakers, too!
 For the world revolves today
 Around you, sweet, around you.”

 Flaming firework flowers
 Jostle in the fray
 Blooming and bold and curious
 Not hesitant to say:

 “Step light and sprightly, slowpoke!
 Leave memory behind, too!
 For the world revolves today
 Around you, superstar, around you.”

 The creak of the pier,
 The hum of the sun
 Shatters off the lake –
 I feel barely begun
 I feel bursting with Soon
 And smiley with May
So much that my heart clamors to say:

 “Delight or be damned, world!
 I’m stunning enough to see!
 For the world revolves today
 Around me, and only me!”
