The Little Things
We always said talk to you later instead of goodbye,
 it made things smoother,
made the song of crickets just a little sweeter during
 those lonely hours. Your
voice was soft and distant on the phone tonight. My
 heart throbbed to hear
myself speak; a strong girl reduced to a broken and
 fluctuating whisper. I
had to leave. I could hear the muffled sounds of you
 changing positions. You
said goodnight. Talk to you later. I said goodnight and
 goodbye. Did you notice?
