In this shallow basin
The greatest ships have sank
Light filters through
A reminder
Laced with missed opportunities
And misconceptions,
Regret.
The water pools
Soaking through to the bone
Just beneath my knee
But I feel it creeping up my stomach
Gurgling in my throat
Sloshing in front of my eyes
Dancing just above my head
Wading deep waters.
