Facebook must have mind of its own,
for it is my life,
yet confuses me beyond compression;

All those people I friend,
who I have met in my life,
yet barely talk to even half of them;

And it calls to you,
to reach out and refresh,
yet knowing all along there is nothing new;

It is the media,
the hip,
yet never has something such controlled us more;

So why do we let it?
why not close the computer,
like shutting the door in someone’s face?

The author's comments:
This piece is something that came out after realizing how much Facebook actually could control lives, and how free you felt after giving it up for a while. I know it might seem incomplete to some, and I was close to adding onto the poem and answering the question in sorts, but I felt it was better to simply let the reader take from it what they will. Thank you for reading.

Great! I a hundred percent agree with this. I dislike when people brag about how they have so many "friends", yet they don't even talk to some of them. Your feelings were well expressed. Please read, rate, and comment on my poems! Thanks!

I agree with you, facebook is controlling our life so much! I haven't noticed it for a long time. Life is better without facebook, without thousands of  "friends", without fake photos.
I experienced it.
The poem is pretty good. :)
