more than the sum of the parts

The human heart is fragile.
It can be easily broken, crushed, turned to dust.
Carried in the wind,
Spread on the floor
In a million pieces
And in that moment
When everything is lost,
All the pieces begin to float
In a cloud of shards.
The cloud solidifies, unites
And shapes itself to fit our dreams.
As I watch it assemble in an impossible shape, I wonder…
Is it the same?
So I stare at it, and I think
Is the sum of the parts equal to the whole?
Because from my point of view,
It is now bigger and fuller than ever.
