As it Seems
The sky with a reddish hue
The rays of the setting sun sieved,
Through a cluster of palm trees
This was the picture I weaved.
I would stare at those waves
Majestically seated in a summer dress,
Equipped with a pen and paper to write
And each word- the scenery would caress

 This all I imagined
In a blink of an eye,
 On the plane to Africa
 Where my future would lie.

 But somehow life continued
After all, things aren't as they seem,
It's all the same- just troubled, altered
I only acquired the background of my dream.

I still work using a computer
 I still go to school,
I still check my phone for messages
I still try to act cool.

 That perfect haven only continues
To exist in fantasy books, in my mind,
Nothing is as you believe because everything changes
Just laugh at the contrast between what you expect and find.
