The Lover's Goodbye

I loved you even as we said goodbye
After the wine ran out and the ocean ran dry
I loved you more than the breath in me
I loved even though you had to leave

I loved more than the the morning bird's song
More than the days when we'd talk all day long
Now that you've passed I don't know what to do
You left me in shock too afraid to move

You held me in silence and in noise
We shared all our sorrows and our joys
In your arms I could never feel alone
Now with you gone I'm worn to the bone

I loved you in winter and in spring
We were more than some old summer fling
Before the sickness we both were strong
Our love continues even though you're gone

Without a doubt I'll never be
Quite as in love as you were with me
I don't know if I'll ever be the same
Haven't been since I took your last name

In your shadow I planted a seed
Now I pick love fruit from your tree
I share all the love with all my friends
The love won't run out until the world ends

I loved right when you said goodbye
I loved you more as the light left your eyes
I loved you as your hand released mine

I've never loved you more than that night

About some guy that got cancer and died and his wife saying how much she loved him. I think you might've gotten that.

Beautiful! Its simplicity makes the love seem that much stronger and purer.
