"History is the fiction we invent to convince ourselves that events are knowable and life has order and direction." --Calvin and Hobbes

The hordes of the love struck
The smitten
The fallen
Trail behind you
In every color
Every shape
Like so many tails to a kite
Like so many honey bees to a sweet
Sweet
Flower.
I watch them in their insanity.
They want
Wish
Need
One more second with your caramel skin
One touch of flawless
Natural hair.
You are their angel.
And you grace the world with your presence.
They need for you to come closer
Closer
Closer.
You need them to just go away.
Leave.
You.
ALONE.
But they will follow you, my angel,
As moths to a light,
Seeking out beauty
Where it may lie.
You do not realize how gorgeous you are.
The strongest flower of them all;
I wither and die in your shadow.
