If I am behind bars
caged for your laughter
sneers and "useless"
If I am made a dog
to live off your scraps
of hateful thought
what will happen
when - if, when? - you think you need me
and move to free me
Will I retreat into shadow
will I lash out
with fear turned to fury
and try to maim and gore you
or will I open myself
from head to toe tearing
to show that I've been filled with sand
