“If I lose the light of the sun, I will write by candlelight, moonlight, no light. If I lose paper and ink, I will write in blood on forgotten walls. I will write always. I will capture nights all over the world and bring them to you.” - Henry Rollins

I am lost
In a blizzard
In an unfamiliar place
I am being followed
By friends
And People who look up to me to find the way back
More and more ugly white snow surrounds me in my car
Determined to make it home I proceed ahead anyway
Not knowing if I am traveling in the right direction
Then I know where I am
I’m on top of the pond
The one with the bench where the ducks would swim in the summer
But the ducks are there no more, and it is now an unfamiliar place
For the ducks are all gone
The pond is frozen over now
Frozen for the winter
As I go ahead anyway riding upon thin ice
Everyone follows me out to the road, now knowing excactyl where they are
And I am the hero
The hero for guessing the correct path by chance
They’ll never know
As my friends and I go our separate ways
I venture to another friend’s house
An old friend’s house
One that will take me in and understand what I have to tell him
I make it to the friend’s house
Now I am safe
Safe from the responsibility
Of people thinking that I am responsible
Back at my friends house to sleep on the floor
Before I can even open my mouth to speak of what I have to tell him
The blizzard hits there too
Leaving me cold and alone in an unfamiliar place
In an unfamiliar world
Where real ideas come to life
And memories control everything I do
I am fearful of the terrors
They appear out of nothing
Making my heart freeze
Lowering my soul to the temperature of the snow outside
I can’t sleep
For it is far too cold to do so
But leaving is not an option
Desperately I sit up in the darkness
Distinguishing between reality and my imagination is the hardest part
Of surviving the night
In an unfamiliar place
With terrors on my mind
That nobody would understand
