Forgotten
Forgotten
Stranded,
On an island
Surrounded by flowing love
Is a current I used to travel
One traveled with you
Stranded,
On an island
There rests many graves
The graves of our memories
One’s I used to cherish
One’s we used to cherish
Stranded,
On an island
Inside our fire pit
Lay the remnants of a relationship
One that went up in flames
Stranded,
On an island
A rope is visible
Barely seen
By a marooned soul
Stranded,
On an island
The ache eases
Normality slowly returns
Because I have begun to forget
Stranded,
On an island
Your ghosts
Have finally left
Taking with them the nightmares
Filled with you smiles
And the constant sound of your infectious laughter
Stranded,
On an island
The rope is reachable
Slowly I rise
Away from the confines
Of heartbreak
Free
From that island
Because you’ve been forgotten
