Climbing on apple trees to pick the perfect Macintosh,
Beaches full of sand castles and salty belly aches,
Watching a baby sleep in my lap,
Paint tasting awful, even worse than dirt,
Frosting portraits…on my face,
Climbing up slide, lava awaiting below,
Running through the garden path
picking flowers and throwing them in the air,
Twirling helicopter seeds,
Licking the batter off of the spoon,
Dancing like crazy then swaying on his shoulders,
Being messy every day,
Sleeping in my diapers on a hot summer day,
Antagonizing my brother, who pummeled acorns at me,
Saving little mice and grasshoppers,
Never saying “I do not believe in fair---”,
Savoring bedtime stories
and begging for another,
Eating Dill pickles at Grandpa’s house,
Laughing at the dinner table uncontrollably,
Twirling around in Papa’s arms and
Dancing to the best records of the 70s...
Enjoying life like a child would.
