The Girl With the Veiled Heart
In my mind I picture my heart
A thick layer makes it hard to see
The layer is covered in words
Words that keep me away from where I ought to be
I peal the layer and try to find my heart in there
 I read my way through
Although it seems to be part of the problem
I see words that are scarily familiar
 Drama
 Gossip
 Conceit
 I'm reading the wrong books
 Listening to the wrong things
 Making excuses
 "They say it, not me."
 Who stood by?
Who doesn't pay close enough attention in church?
Who is drifting away from our only Savior?
Who is letting earthly distractions separate her from "the way, the truth, and the life"?
 Me.
The girl with the veiled heart
