Still Fighting

sometimes in the midst of my despair,
the shadows of destruction falling; i ask if i will
die-
but death will only come for me when i can no longer
make a fist.
and so in my misery,
i curl and uncurl my hand;
fingers to palm, fingers to palm as i hurt but
through all the pain i’m still
fighting.
