You don't know what you have until you've lost it. So treasure everything you do have and never let it go

Where's Daddy now?
I don't know.
I keep asking how,
But they don't know.

A cold drop travels,
Slowly down my cheek.
I miss Daddy,
Does he miss me?

A bright white light,
Glows down the hall.
It smells sterile,
Not like Daddy at all.

They took him from me,
I could hear a shrill beeping,
Which started to slow.

Then the beeping stopped.
Now it's quiet.
Mommy started crying.
Then they brought her somewhere private.

I miss my Daddy.
I don't know where he is.
They say he's in Heaven.
But I don't know where that is.

Is it at his work?
Or in the hospital?
I hope I can visit.
I hear it's someplace special.

The author's comments:
The viewpoint of a little kid is special. It's clear; unpolluted by anything but basic feelings. This little kid was a friend of mine, and I felt their confusion as if it was my own. I wrote this piece because of the emotions rolling inside of me that this little kid left inside of me after that day.
