Favorite Quote:
“The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them, over and over, in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day.”
― David Foster Wallace, This Is Water: Some Thoughts, Delivered on a Significant Occasion, about Living a Compassionate Life

Circle-fingertips connected.
Make eye contact with yourself in the mirror- if you can.
The top of your head leads you- up and up.
Stop altogether.
Moment of suspension.
Moment of total stillness.
Moment...
Stationary, perfectly flat, perfect line, stable.
We're touching your force field, but not you, tentative.
Muffin, darling, turkey, love, Wouldn't you like to know whats going to happen next?

KICK YOURSELF!
REALLY kick yourself
Its like you're being attacked by your leg and its freaking you out.
Fists, the power of them leading you at all times.
Throwing, slicing, heavy, and muscular.
throw it
kick it
stomp
down down DOWN DOWN
up and up
fire and spin
stab it
flick it
more
more commitment to the danger
you should be off balance, if you go backwards anymore you will fall.
NOW! down down DOWN DOWN
into the ground
stop altogether
moment of suspension
moment of stillness
moment...
moment we forgot
fingers open
arms extended
blood from my veins.

This is a kind of "found poem" of words taken from my dance teacher while she choreographed.
It is about being completely vulnerable as a performer, which is such a powerful and yet rare feeling.
Feel free to let me know what you think.
