"LIfe moves pretty fast. If you dont stop and look around every once in a while, you might miss it."

In so many stories
It is the darkness
That brings about the fear.
But in mine, in the beginning anyways,
It was the light.
In the darkness
Everything was hidden.
I could imagine what I should see.
I could picture what you should be.
And all it would take
Was the light
To take my nightmare
And make it real.
With the darkness
Hiding all but your voice
Your entire being
Would be from memory.
You could be anything
Anything that I wanted you to be.
The darkness saved me.
The darkness made me rememeber.
The darkness made me forget.
When the lightness
Would reach my eyes
And everything that had become you,
Everything that had destroyed you
Became real
Life would stop.
Yet when the darkness finally came
When the darkness finally ended
Everything that had been
It was the light that brought me back,
The light that reminded me
Of who I had to become.
The darkness saved us all from remembering
Until we were ready to.
I am ready.
Others are not.
I cannot tell them
How to get here.
All they can do is open their eyes
And let you into
Their hearts once more.
For in this light
We must live the life
Given us,
With fail and acceptance.
For life is short at times
And others so long that
we need to squint to see the edges.
And when the light dims
We must be ready
And accept the darkness
And the life awaiting
Us there as well.
In the stories
The light must defeat the darkness.
But I seldom see this to be true.
It was not the darkness
That killed you.
It was the light.
The darkness took you away from all of the pain.
And though it took you from me
Someday it will bring me back to you.
So I look to the darkness
And I remember
And I forget.
I live in the light.
I love in the light.
But I never forget what the darkness gave me
And what it took away.
For with every light
There is a darkness.
Neither is good nor bad.
They give and they take.
Pain is hidden within both.
Life is found within both.
And neither will ever
Be forgotten.
