The Swingset
Forward, back
Forward, back.
The clutch of my stomach,
The pull at my spine.
Up, down up-
Up, down, up.
Holding the chains
That keep me above
The ground
The wind pulls in and out of
My lungs.
My legs pump me
Forward and away
They make me go faster.
My heart beats fast
The stress this causes,
The bliss that comes.
Oh! The joy of
Swinging high!
Letting go,
Jumping high,
Catching myself before
I hit the ground-
It’s truly something
I delight
In doing.
Back on the swing-
Forward, back,
Forward, back.
The stress it causes,
The bliss that comes.
The sky that bounces
Overhead,
The grass that streaks
Below my feet.
Swinging, swaying,
Twisting, turning.
Up, down, up-
Up, down, up.
Singing, sighing,
Delight in trying-
Swings help me fly.
Growing wings
To make me soar-
Swings only take me
So high.
My heart beats fast
The stress this causes
The bliss that comes.
Oh! The joy of
Swinging high!
Like dancing on the
Chains of life,
Swings change me from
The inside.
Jumping high and
Letting go-
Letting go-
Letting go of things
That we do not need,
Trusting that things will
Be alright.
Forward, back,
Forward, back.
The stress it causes-
The bliss that comes.
