Standing with a pair of wings
Broken, beaten, bloodified.
Crushed beneath a heavy current
Of failure mixed with anguish.
I was unable to shelter you,
Save you from the crash.
My sole duty was to protect you
And the precious, fragile life you led.
My mistake stopped your heart from beating,
Put you into this freshly dug grave.
Never again will I see your smile,
Watch your eyes light up with joy,
Or hear your music filled laugh.
Knowing this tears my heart in two.
I only ever wanted to be with you,
And be with you I shall.

I was on the bus one day and suddenly I felt the need to write this. I kept thinking, what if we have guardian angels? Then I started thinking, what if our guardian angel failed? I kept adding on thoughts like what if there was an angel and a girl who were in love, what if the angel was reassigned...etc. The final result was this poem.
