I used to cry myself to sleep
July 19, 2011
I used to cry for extended strolls in the open air,
a rumbling stomach demanding satisfaction,
or, well, just for the heck of it.
and always, my shrill cries were met by
clucking tongues
wagging fingers
circles sleepily drawn on my back..
so now,
in the emptiness of night,
I cry myself to sleep.
for without tears,
there is no promise of the open air,
no assurance of contentment, there is no rest.
