Does anyone truly know me?
Do they never see the person I hide
 Sometimes I feel its better
To be away rather than alongside

I'm just so far from everyone
drowning in tears that I've shed
 I'm never letting go
I'm hiding in a rose bed

But the flowers are not yellow
Nor red, nor blue, nor pink
 The petals turn to black
my message written in invisible ink

I once strived to become the image
of the person I thought I was
but then I lost the picture
 the action lost it's buzz

I let in a few to the dark world that is I
 But they didn't understand it
 They couldn't comprehend me
 They asked me to submit

 I would not
 I could not
so I closed off the door
 now people see
 What they choose to ignore
 I've shut off the lights
 and taped up the cracks
but the thing known as my heart
 is about to collapse
